PC-SIG CdRom Disks
Main Menu Help
--------------
PC-SIG organizes their files by disk number. This door accesses the
software on this cdrom disk by disk number also. These disk numbers
are the same as you would see in any ad for pc-sig.
<C>hange Default Download Protocol. Allows you to change the file transfer
protocol that will be used to send the disks from the cd-rom. It keeps
this same protocol for each download until you change it or exit the
door.
<D>ownload a Disk. Just enter the disk number you want and the program
will do the rest. If you haven't selected a file transfer protocol it
will ask you to choose one. You may also be asked if you want to auto
log-off at the end of the transfer. Even if you select yes you
will be given a chance to abort it after the transfer.
<E>xit Back to the BBS. Exits the CD-ROM shell and takes you back to the
BBS.
<H>elp. This file here.
<I>nformation on a Disk. Tells you how many bytes the disk is,
how long it will take to transfer at your baud rate/protocol type,
and how many times the disk has been downloaded.
<L>ist disks by Category. The pc-sig disks are broken down
into 116 or so categories, this will allow you to quickly scan a
category of disks. If you want more information on it then
you can read the disk description, or view the disk.
<P>age Sysop. Wakes up the Sysop so he can help you with any
problems/questions you may have. Please be courteous as to what
times you use this option at.
<Q>uick List of Disk Titles. This lets you quickly browse through all
the disk titles. It will give you the one line description that pc-sig
gives for the disk in the description file.
<R>ead Description. Allows you to read a description to a disk before
downloading it or to see if it is really the disk you want. You can
just browse through them also by hitting enter.
<S>earch Descriptions for Any Text. Allows you the entire disk description
file for any matching text. Do not use wildcards for the search,
like * or ?, as it is a text search not a DOS search. If it finds a match
it will give you the disk number it found it in, and it also saves the
disk numbers for later reading so you don't have to write them down.
The search can be aborted at any time with control-k, and it will tell you
the ending disk number so you can resume it later if you want. You can
also enter a starting disk number so you don't have to start the search
at disk 1 every time.
Leading and trailing spaces count when searching, so if you wanted to search
for the word " for " the program will not match on format, or fortune, etc.
Just enter the leading and trailing spaces when you enter your search text.
You can boolean match (either AND or OR) for up to 9 other words on the search. If yoWhen entering search text it is best to keep it
If you have color (ansi) enabled search match words will be highlighted when
you go to read them, allowing you to quickly find the matched text in the
description.
<T>ime Left Online (This Call). Tells you how long you've been
on for, current time/date, and how much time is left this call.
<V>iew a Disk. All disks on the pc-sig disk are zipped, this allows
you to view it, and read text out of it.
<?> Information on CdCom. Tells you where you can get more
information about this program.
